1.a rare immunological disorder characterized by the virtual absence of gamma globulin in the blood and consequent susceptibility to infection
Agammaglobulinemia (n.)
1.(MeSH)X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA), a congenital X-linked immunodeficiency disorder characterized by absence or very low levels of circulating immunoglobulins. Persons with this disorder develop repeated and serious infections. XLA is caused by a defect in the gene that controls the production of the enzyme called Bruton's agammaglobulinemia tyrosine kinase (btk). This defect blocks the formation of mature B cells that produce immunoglobulins.
