A.D.A. Heather Stevens is a fictional character on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless. She was born on-screen in 1979 as the daughter of Paul Williams and April Stevens. She was first played by twins Dana and Lauren Schankman in 1979, and by Claire and Elizabeth Schoene from 1979 to 1982, when her character left with town with her mother. Upon her return in 1993, she was briefly played by Conci Nelson. The role is currently played by Vail Bloom, who joined the cast on July 13, 2007.[1]. In August 2009 she was downgraded to recurring status.

Character

Heather is the daughter of Paul Williams and his first wife, April Stevens. As a child, she believes that she is actually the daughter of April's second husband, Robert Lynch. April and Heather re-enter Paul's life at the time when Robert was physically and mentally abusive towards April, and April eventually kills him in self-defense. She is put on trial and convicted of manslaughter, but allowed to fulfill her community service back in New York, so she leaves Genoa City with Heather without letting her know that Paul is her father.

Over a decade later, Heather arrives in Genoa City to assist District Attorney William Bardwell after he suffers a stroke. However, William dies shortly after and she is assigned all his cases, including the case against Jana Hawkes, Phyllis Newman, and one against opposing counsel Michael Baldwin's brother Kevin Fisher and his friends Daniel Romalotti and Amber Moore. Hoping to establish a connection with his daughter, Paul offers to assist her and decides to tell Heather the truth after much support from Maggie Sullivan, even though April doesn't want him to. Just before Paul tells her the truth, Heather learns of his involvement in the case against Sheila Carter, but she decides to forgive him and they slowly start to establish a connection as father and daughter. Heather is surprised to learn that her old college professor Adrian Korbel is in town, but their connection is never further explored.

Heather's romantic life includes a brief flirtation with Cane Ashby, but with a lack of chemistry it ends things before they even start. Heather seems to be putting up walls when meeting people, but she is smitten by Daniel Romalotti who tries to get her to date him, but she never follows through. Her business life, however, seems to be more important to her. She is assigned to prosecute tycoon Victor Newman for the murder of Ji Min Kim, who constantly berates her for going up against him, even after the case is dropped and Heather loses her job by Victor's orders. Heather contemplates leaving town, but is convinced by her father to stick around. She gets a job at Jabot and starts a relationship with Victor's son Adam Wilson.

When Ji Min's murderer is revealed and tied to the case of other murders, Paul allows to let his daughter take credit for finding the information, so Heather gets her job as the assistant D.A. back, which she uses to prosecute Victor again. She becomes exhausted by work and learns she has Epstein-Barr disease, but it doesn't stop her from doing her job. Heather blindly believes that Adam, who proposed to her months back, is telling her the truth regarding forging his father's diary, and is deeply hurt to learn that Adam was lying to her. She arrests Adam and decides to continue trying to find out if Victor killed Walter Palin as a part of his revenge, but this is another story that was subsequently dropped.

Adam is released from prison into Victor's custody with Heather's help because he is losing his eyesight, but actually he is fooling everyone. Heather admits to Adam that she still loves him even though he asked her to stay away from him, knowing that he could do her harm. With Ashley's persuasion, Victor allows Heather free visits to Adam's room at the ranch. Heather stays blind to the fact that Adam is conning her, but upon learning from her father that Adam had an affair with his lawyer Rafael "Rafe" Torres, Heather dumps Adam.

In January 2010 she slept with Billy Abbott in attempt to write an expose on Adam Wilson, her ex
