Shaggy (de son vrai nom, Orville Richard Burrell) est un chanteur de ragga né le 22 octobre 1968 à Kingston en Jamaïque. Il a appartenu au Corps des Marines des États Unis.

Découvert par son tube "Boombastic" (1995, repris dans une publicité Levi's), Shaggy a ensuite redécouvert le succès en 2000 avec la sortie de son album Hot Shot et les titres It Wasn’t Me et Angel qui ont fait le tour du monde. Son nom viendrait de son dessin animé préféré Scoobidou dont son personnage est Sammy (Shaggy en version anglaise). Une autre interprétation plus connotée est possible, "to shag" signifiant "baiser" en argot Britannique.

Il est actuellement, avec entre autres Bob Marley, Sean Paul et Jimmy Cliff, l’un des artistes jamaïcains à avoir une reconnaissance internationale.
